Beautiful Custom Adoption Announcements from pipe|up

When I stumbled upon these adoption announcements I just had to share them.  They are just precious and the sentiment is so true.  These beautifully designed announcements are the the work of Heather at pipe|up.  Her Etsy shop is filled with creatively designed cards for adoption and baby announcements as well as holiday cards and wedding save the date cards.  All of her designs are customizable and any of her baby announcements can be made into adoption announcements as well.

Her announcement designs are very reasonably priced at $15.  Once you place an order you will send her the details of how you want to customize the announcement including the size you prefer (4×6 or 5×7), a photograph, text, colors and baby/child’s info. Within 24-48 hours you will receive a proof. You can then print as many as you need as a regular photo file at a location of your choice (costco | cvs | walgreens | snapfish) and mail them to friends and family. If you would rather have them professionally press printed on card stock she can print them for you at an additional cost (see price chart here).

My Smart Hands: Fun Signing App for Babies and Kids

Do you teach your kids to sign?  I have started with each of my children at about 9 months and taught them simple signs like eat, please, thank you, more, drink, no, and yes.  I really enjoy that they can communicate with me before they can even talk.  I find my children tend to be less fussy because they can let me know what they want and I can meet that need instead of trying to guess when they are upset.  I recently had the opportunity to review 2 of the My Smart Hands apps for iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. While trying them out my 5 year old son would learn a sign and then turn around to his 2 year old sister and show her the sign and try to teach it to her. I thought it was so sweet.  They both enjoyed playing with the apps.

We got to try the Alphabet Signs and Everyday Signs.  My son played with both of the apps on my iPhone.  He would go through the ABC’s on the Alphabet signs app and learn each sign and then tap the screen to see a word that starts with that letter and the sign for it.  He could even tap the “watch” button to see a short video of the sign being done by a child. After you learn the signs you can take a quiz to see which ones you have mastered. My son spent about 1/2 hour just going through the signs and then he repeatedly asked me to play the”signing games” again on my phone over the next several days. I think it is safe to say that it was a hit with him.

The Everyday Signs Flash Cards app has words that you would use in everyday conversations.  You can also watch these signs on a short video and take a quiz on these.  With this one you learn words like cookie, daddy, milk, and I love you.

My Smart Hands also has a Baby Sign Language Dictionary App which looks like a great tool for when you are wanting to teach your baby to sign and need to learn them yourself.  There are over 300 words in this app and you can also watch videos and quiz yourself on your mastery. You can watch a video here on the features of this app. It sells for $4.99 on iTunes and I feel that it is well worth that price.  You have so many more options with the app than you would with a book or a video.

If you sign with your kids I would love to hear about it.  In what situations do you find it helpful?  My older daughters still sign “I love you” to me when they are leaving to go somewhere.  I am so glad that I taught them how to sign.

Fantastic Shopping Cart Cover from from Tinder Designs

A little over a year and a half ago I finally found a shopping cart cover that I really liked and purchased it.  I choose the Pink and Brown Circle Dots from Tinder Designs Boutique on Etsy.  I have been more than happy with it!  It is so very well made and has stood up to many washings and is still as good as new.  It is so much softer and cushier than most other shopping cart covers I have seen.  I love that it comes with a pillow for tired shoppers. My daughter even sneaks the pillow into bed with her sometimes.
This cover fits on any kind of cart from the small little ones to the great big warehouse carts.  Oh, and did I mention that you can use it at restaurants on highchairs too? I love that I can keep my little girl comfortable and provide a barrier to those nasty, germy carts.  Have you ever picked up a seat belt in a cart or highchair only to feel slimy leftovers from the last little person to use it?  With this cover you have your own safety belt and don’t have to mess with a grimy, germy one.  The safety belt clips easily to the cart with an included clip so you don’t have to unthread and then rethread the belt through cart.
Tinder Designs covers have pockets and I found they were great for holding snacks for a little shopper to snack on while riding.  There is also a toy loop to attach toys to keep baby busy and happy.
You can check out Tinder Designs awesome feedback to see how happy all of her other customer’s have been as well.  If you are looking for a seatcover for your child you will not be disappointed with one from Tinder Designs Boutique!

If you purchase one of these great shopping cart covers and mention Kristinsreview.com at checkout you will get your shipping cost refunded to you.

Dunstan Baby Language DVD Giveaway!

In case you missed it you can read my opinion of the Dunstan Baby Language program here.  If you are a mom (or dad) who is expecting or who has a new baby then this DVD will be so helpful to you!  Australian mother Priscilla Dunstan discovered that babies tend to make common sounds in their cries for specific things.  It is a bit surprising but also revolutionary.  After watching you will be able to identify the sounds of a hungry, tired, gassy, or uncomfortable baby and respond correctly to that need.  Sounds great doesn’t it?  Would you like to win a copy?  Here is your chance.

Dunstan Baby Language has graciously provided a DVD Program: One (0-3 months) for me to giveaway.  If you would like to purchase one you can visit DunstanBaby.com or Amazon.com.

Now for the giveaway details:
