So, in Part 1 we already discussed IF deal sites are really all they claim to be. Now I would like to talk about those times when the deals are too good to pass up. Obviously if you go to Jason’s Deli once a week and say Groupon has deal where you pay just $10 for a $20 certificate to Jason’s Deli then you will want to get in on that. If you love to buy your child, say, Crocs shoes, then watch for deals to shoe websites that have Crocs for sale.
The best way to keep up with the deals that are out there is to sign up for the deal sites daily emails (I have a list of them here). The sites will email you with the details every time there is a sale. It is hard to remember to check a site every day so I think emails are best. Either that or you can sign up for emails from a site that tells you what the best deals are every day (like Mommy Kudos!).
Sometimes it is fun to get a deal for an activity you have always wanted to try or a new restaurant. Deals allow you to be adventurous without paying full price. I like to look for deals for date ideas when my husband and I are planning to go out on a date. You can find everything from food, to concerts, to flowers and chocolates for a deal.
I also keep my eyes out for deals that I can use towards birthday and Christmas gifts. There have been quite a few times when I have checked gifts off my list by getting a gift certificate to an online toy store for half off, or purchased something nice, for a fraction of the normal price, for a hostess gift when we go stay in someones home.
When you purchase a deal be sure to make use of the email, Facebook and twitter links to share it with your friends and family. Often times you will either get credit or get your deal free if enough of your friends buy it too. If you see a deal that you think will be a hit but don’t plan to get it yourself so ahead and use the links to share it with your friends. If they may not have known about it unless you shared and if it is something they can use then they will be glad you shared it!
So what are the best deal sites? There are so many now that it is hard to keep track of them all. I have a pretty thorough list here but my favorites, in no particular order, are:
For Just About Anything
Groupon– they have deals in most major cities and many online deals too.
Living Social– very similar to Groupon
Mamapedia– daily deals especially for busy moms and their families. Mamapedia usually has several deals going at once.
Eversave– deals from 50%-90% off
For Home Goods
One Kings Lane– Designer home goods at amazing prices. I love this one!! They have great inspiring ideas for home decor!
Joss & Main– Home decor, furniture and more.
The Foundry– a great site that features sales of up to 70% off for home items.
There are lots more but the sites listed above are the ones I find myself wanting to check daily. If you ever find great deals, and want to share them, come tell me about them! I love to hear about deals!
